To counteract the whisky shortage that hit Japanese distilleries, these have invested their experience in producing gin. Kyoto Distillery was not left behind. In fact, they took advantage of both their talent and famous gin era to create their line.

This gin called Ki No Jyu Kyoto Gin Series 1 Gyokuro, is the first expression of the Kyoto Gin Series. In addition, it joins the already existing range of gin as the Ki No Bi Kyoto Dry Gin.

The new gin is made with Okuno Yama tea. It is a type of Gyokuro green tea that is distinguished by its method of cultivation and growth performed under nets in the shade. To produce Ki No Jyu, the distillery had the collaboration of Horii Shichimeien, a farmer of this type of tea. It should be noted that this tea had already been used for Ki No Bi.

This exceptional gin went through a process of mixing and experiment of 12 months to find the final product. As a result, a 47% ABV gin is obtained, with rich notes of green tea and fresh citrus. It is recommended to taste dry.

Ki No Jyu will initially be available in Japan in very limited quantities for a price of 50,000 yen ($417). For those of us who are abroad, we will have to wait until next year to get our hands on a bottle of this super gin.
