Mount Gay Distillery: 316 years producing rum

This year marks the 316th anniversary of Mount Gay as the oldest working rum distillery. Barbados Today reports.

Celebrating its birth in 1703, the distillery took the opportunity to show its appreciation for its workers, customers and consumers.

For the celebration Mount Gay organized different events ranging from visiting customers and consumers in bars and rum shops, as well as a special appreciation event for its team and a massive sale of Mount Gay rum to the public. All for the purpose of thanking everyone involved in Mount Gay.

Mount Gay CEO Raphael Grison said of the 316th anniversary of the Barbados rum distillery: “There is a pioneering mindset at Mount Gay and we intend to continue to do so. Yes, we are the oldest, but we don’t intend to rest on our laurels. We intend to remain innovative, engage our customers and keep our brand visible as we look forward to celebrating many more years.”
