World Class: The three main cocktail trends for 2019

The 2018 WORLD CLASS Bartender of the Year competition is being prepared in Berlin, with 56 countries participating before a jury of experts on world flavours.

Here are their fundamentals for a 2019 cocktail :

1. Low and ABV-free cocktails
Low-alcoholic beverages are favoured, or even without alcohol. Since its launch in 2016, Seedlip has continued to strengthen. And yes, alcohol-free options are particularly popular with young consumers: 46% of people under 35 are likely to order an alcohol-free cocktail, compared to only 16% of those over 35. In 2019, WORLD CLASS expects this trend to accelerate, as the global trend towards well-being continues to grow.

2. #My Cocktail
In 2019, the appearance of the drinks will be just as important as their taste. The recognition of social media plays a major role in the consumption habits of young consumers. As a result, brands and bartenders will continue to experiment to give their cocktails and social reach a new dimension.

3. Maintaining momentum
No waste, the best bars will go beyond waste reduction, eliminating perishable food and transforming leftovers into innovative ecological cocktails.
