Meet these 3 Hong Kong bars among the best in Asia
Three Hong Kong bars were nominated for the Asia’s 50 Best Bars ranking following the announcement of the inaugural list in positions 51-100.
Each year the reputable World’s 50 Best listing announces the best bars in the world. In the Asian edition Asia’s 50 Best Bars from positions 51-100 are three bars from Hong Kong. Notably, at the top of the entire list is also a Hong Kong bar, Coa, nominated for The Best Bar in Asia 2021 and The Best Bar in China 2021. It is followed by Caprice Bar at number 10; The Diplomat, at 12; Quinary at 25; The Pontiac at 26; The Wise King at 28, Penicilin at 30 and Dark Side at number 40.
The Shady Acres
This is the first time this Hong Kong bar from Peel Street has appeared on the Asia’s Best 50 Bars list, ranking 68th on the list. The bar offers excellent cocktails and beers as well as wines from all over the world including biodynamic and natural.

Otto e Mezzo Bombana
Italian restaurant Otto e Mezzo Bombana, which was ranked No. 28 in 2020 dropped to No. 65 following the departure of bar manager Devender Seghal. However, the restaurant remains listed with its bar alongside the other Hong Kong bars.

Otto e Mezzo stands out for its excellent dishes and a very good selection of 4000 wines, from which customers can choose to drink by the glass or by the bottle. It is worth noting that 80% of the wines are Italian. Cocktails stand out on the menu with Italian appetizers, which are worth tasting. Among the cocktails, three types of Negroni. Time Out recommends Il Nome Della Rosa, made with mezcal, Campari, vermouth and rose flower.

The Old Man
Another of Hong Kong bars is the well-known The Old Man, which has several locations around the country. It ranked No. 1 in the 2019 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, and No. 2 in 2020. Following the departure of Agung Prabowo to Penicilin, the bar dropped to 54th place.
A very good bar, The Old Man has a concept inspired by Ernest Hemingway‘s book The Old Man and the Sea. The bar is built in 1000 square feet with an intimate yet lively atmosphere. All cocktails have names based on Hemingway’s novels, created with original recipes. But we also find classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned, which according to Time Out is one of the best in town. In short, the drinks are ideal for both neophytes and the more experienced and meet all expectations.
