New release: Fisherman’s Strength Gin by Seven Crofts
From the same creators of the award-winning Scottish gin Seven Crofts Gin, comes Fisherman Strength Gin released on October 9.
The Highland Liquor Company unveiled its newest bottle, Fisherman Strength Gin. It is the second edition in the portfolio of the distillery.
It is a Navy Strength* small batch gin, that is, produced in small quantities. Bottled at 57% ABV (alcohol by volume) the gin is hand distilled denoting its craft character. In its flavor profile, juniper stands out with forest floor notes and notes of ripe blueberry, ground black pepper, pink pepper and a touch of spicy coriander.
To achieve this flavor profile, Fisherman’s Strength uses an original blend of traditional and signature herbs. These include coriander, pink peppercorns, cubebs, cardamom, angelica and lemon peel. Some ingredients are placed in the pot while others are vaporized to preserve their delicate character.
Fishermen’s Strength celebrates the fishing community of Ullapool, the hometown of The Highland Liquor Company. Ullapool was originally founded by the British Fisheries Society.
Co-founder Robert Hicks said: “We developed our Seven Crofts Fisherman’s Strength gin as a tribute to the Ullapool fishing community which has been in the town for more than 200 years. Our small batch gin celebrates this community: past, present and future!
How to taste Fisherman’s Strength Gin?
Nose: powerful. Led by juniper with woody notes and hints of ripe blueberry, ground black pepper, pink pepper and a touch of coriander.
Palate: sharp, although when we get used to the alcohol the juniper perceived in the nose develops in the palate in a very pleasant way. Blue and black fruits, cooked apple with pink pepper attack first, with the coriander manifesting itself in the longer note of an elegant finish.
It should be noted that The Highland Liquor Company has been heavily involved in its Ullapool community in recent months, since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The distillery was able to produce and offer hand sanitizer at no cost to frontline workers. The distillery continues to produce hand sanitizer for both the community and other businesses.
The gin is sold at a price of £48 per 70 cl bottle. Available online at The Highland Liquor Company website and other luxury stores.
