Bartender Rob Stephens qualifies for the World Bartender Championships

British bartender Rob Stephen qualified to represent his country at the World Bartender Championships. Discover the story here.

Originally from Basildon, he took on some of the best bartenders in the country, in England. He won the UK’s final challenge and qualified for the World Bartender Championships in the United States.

His six-minute performance in front of six judges earned him his place in this championship. The judges evaluated his service, the taste of his cocktails, his techniques and flair.

Stephen faced seven bartenders from around the country at the event held at TGI Fridays. Among the moves that qualified him was The Crucifixion, which he created himself. It consists of a cross pose with a bottle in each hand, which he throws in the air with his eyes closed and retrieves them in the opposite hands.

Thanks to the competition, Rob brought home £2000 and the opportunity to participate in the TGI Fridays World Championship representing the United Kingdom.

The price of money is fantastic. But the best price is knowing that I am one of the best bartenders in the UK and the world. It’s something I’ll have for the rest of my life.” Stephen said. “I can’t wait to represent the UK and Basildon in the world championship.”

Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
