The best bar and restaurant of 2019 in Dallas for the Eater Awards
These are the best bars and restaurants of 2019 that had the most impact during the year. The winners of the Eater, Bar of the Year and Restaurant of the Year awards.
Bar of the Year: 4 Kahunas Tiki Lounge
Despite being a bar that is not exactly in the city center, the trip to Arlington is worth it. At 4 Kahunas Tiki Lounge you will enter a spectacular environment where the waves projected on the wall will make you feel even more on an island. In addition to the rest of the islandand Tiki decoration. But what we come to is cocktails, and in fact at 4 Kahunas they are very strong preparing them.
This traditional Tiki bar respects the inspiration of the creator of this culture, Donn The Beachcomber and “Trader” Vic Bergeron. Here, they mix iconic drinks like Mai Tai and Three Dots and a Dash, using the basics of the genre to make creative cocktails. A recommendation from Eater himself is the Lady Angelica. A sherry cocktail with citrus and passion fruit.
Restaurant of the Year: Homewood
Homewood is the Dallas restaurant located in Oak Lawn owned by Matt McCallister, previously known for his FT33 restaurant. The restaurant balances between cozy neighborhood style and modern dining. Local and fermented ingredients are the main formula for dishes such as Ennis’s Rosewood Ranch barbecue rib, and cestini, a basket-shaped pasta served with coppa di testa. In Homewood, the pastry also stands out in the restaurant thanks to the pastry chef Maggie Huff.
We must not forget that Homewood are also experts in preparing both original and classic cocktails.
Don’t drink and drive. Enjoy responsibly.
